12 Guitar Masters of Improvisation, Swing, and Harmony and Opening Night Party and Jam

New York City – The 3rd annual NYC Jazz Guitar Festival

runs from October 29th through November 1st this year and features a diverse line up of musicians performing in solo,

duo and trio configurations at Zeb’s, a unique loft-like performance space located at 223 W 28th Street in New York City. The diverse mix of guitarists spans generations and displays a wide breadth of unique personal styles.

Performing are: Bucky Pizzarelli, Ed Laub, Gene Bertoncini,

Peter Bernstein, Ed Cherry, Ron Affif, Paul Bollenback,

Pasquale Grasso, Yotam Silberstein, JC Stylles, Ilya Lushtak and Saul Rubin

Curated by jazz guitarist, composer and producer Saul Rubin, founder and artistic director of Zeb’s, the Festival includes an opening night party and jam, and a Halloween night celebration with costumes optional, but welcome. Seating is limited; advance purchase available on line with discounted tickets ranging from $60 for a full-full festival pass (which includes opening night party and jam), to one day tickets for $20.

Rubin has performed and recorded with many jazz luminaries including Sonny Rollins, Roy Hargrove, John Hicks, Victor Lewis, to name a few, and is known for creating a community of great musicians who regularly perform and record at ZEB'S since opening in 2009.

“I wanted to present some of my favorite guitarists in this unique setting” says Rubin. “All the players performing this year are pretty straight-ahead with a beautiful chronology. I love tradition almost as much as innovation, and their styles range from old school jazz to modern, but still are somewhat in the tradition. And all are my friends as well as great musicians.”

Peter Bernstein, who performs on Saturday night @ 11 PM, calls the NYC Guitar Festival “just one of many great events that take place at Zeb’s that make it a very unique and important part of the NYC music scene. In addition to being one of the best guitar players on the planet, Saul Zebulon Rubin has taken on the challenging role of also presenting music in NYC. ZEB'S is a special place and I'm very happy to be a part of the NYC Guitar Festival this year!"

“This unique guitar festival is local and international at the same time,” says Paul Bollenback who will be performing on Sunday, November 1st. “Zeb's is one of the great places to hear music in New York, a real listening room with great acoustics. And Saul Zebulon Rubin is not only a great entrepreneur of music, but a wonderful guitarist and musician in his own right. I’m happy to be part of the Festival.”

JC Stylles, performing Sunday at 3 PM, adds “This Festival brings together an almighty cross section of players and styles for discerning listeners. Saul has demonstrated time and again not only his outstanding guitar playing and musicianship in a wide variety of settings, but also an unwavering dedication to give back to his fellow musicians, singers and music lovers in a way that very few do. I look forward to folks coming out to show their support in return to all involved in bringing this great guitar event together."
